The Department of Bioinformatics , the young and energetic department of Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, had its beginnings in the year 2005. The Bioinformatics program at Karunya Institute of Technology and Sciences, with its motto “Information for innovation” aims to provide expert teaching and research with its highly qualified faculty members and research staff in an effort to create products to benefit humankind. The state-of- the-art Bioinformatics Research Center houses a High Performance Computing facility which includes cluster platforms of high end servers with round-the-clock internet connectivity. The combination of computer sciences and biology facilitate the students towards employability in different companies of IT, Pharamaceutical and Biotech industries.
The department aims to develop the student's critical, analytical and problem solving skills in complex biological system through computational approach. It also acknowledges in nurturing applications of computational knowledge in biology for understanding the diversity of nature.
The mission of the Program is to provide holistic development of value based, world class bioinformatics education and inculcate entrepreneurship skills by exploring and nurturing their potential, leadership quality with moral and ethical values and self motivation .
• To work for breaking the barriers in biological systems and diseases through research in frontiers of bio computational area.
